My soap making process
Every time I begin a new batch of soap, I am reminded why I love this craft so much. There is something deeply rewarding about taking natural ingredients and transforming them into something that nurtures the skin.
It all starts with selecting the perfect combination of oils and butters. Each ingredient plays a role in creating a well-balanced bar:
Olive Oil – Mild and deeply moisturizing, it creates a gentle, conditioning lather.
Coconut Oil – The key to a bubbly, cleansing bar, giving soap its lathering power.
Avocado Oil – Rich in vitamins, it adds an extra boost of nourishment and silkiness.
Canola Oil – Helps create a creamy lather while conditioning the skin.
Shea Butter & Cocoa Butter (Varies) – These butters add luxurious moisture and a smooth, velvety feel.
Tallow (Varies) – A traditional ingredient that makes for a hard, long-lasting bar with a rich, creamy lather.
Castor Oil – Enhances bubbles and helps the soap retain moisture.
Beyond the oils, I also love working with natural additives like colloidal oats, natural clays, and activated charcoal. These ingredients provide gentle exfoliation, detoxifying benefits, and an extra touch of skin-loving care.
For more creative designs, I also use micas which allow me to craft fun, distinctive bars with vibrant swirls and color combinations. These add a personal, artistic touch without compromising the integrity of the soap.
Once the ingredients are blended, I carefully mix, pour, and hand-cut each batch, ensuring consistency and quality. Then comes the waiting—4 to 6 weeks of curing. This time allows the soap to harden naturally, resulting in a longer-lasting bar with a rich, creamy lather.
I take pride in keeping my soaps free from synthetic detergents, sulfates, and unnecessary additives. Everything I create is made with care, using simple, skin-loving ingredients that cleanse effectively while being gentle.
At the end of the process, when I hold a fully cured bar, I feel a sense of fulfillment. Each batch is a reflection of the time, effort, and passion I put into this craft—an artisanal product meant to bring natural goodness to every bath and shower.
